After yet another unsuccessful job, the group gathered at a local bar to regroup and figure out their next move. Despite their lack of success in the adventuring life, they were in dire need of funds to pay off their debts. Luckily, they stumbled upon news that the town's gold dragon had passed away, leaving its coveted lair vulnerable to hostile takeovers from other dragons. With this opportunity in sight, the group saw it as their chance to finally hit the big time and retire from their adventuring lifestyle. They stocked up on supplies and took on this task. Making their way on horseback into the forest, they knew they were not the only ones after the treasure. However, their abrasive personalities left them with no allies, and they were immediately met with opposition from other parties and groups even before entering the cave.

With a few competing groups successfully taken down, the party felt confident in their ability to enter the cave. However, they were met with a formidable fire giant and a massive fire elemental, which they managed to take down using an ambush tactic. Although victorious, the fight left them beaten and bruised, leading them to set up camp to rest and regroup before moving forward. They quickly realized that they were ill-prepared for the harsh environment of the lair, which was filled with numerous large rooms and empty caves, and they spent the better part of the day navigating through traps and fighting off inhabitants of the cave. Eventually, they reached the center of the cave, where they encountered a massive Dragon Turtle, who they engaged in a long and grueling battle. To their surprise, the Dragon Turtle turned out to be a great ally and helped them defeat the other elements of the massive lake, including a young red dragon who was the child of a larger red dragon taking over the lair. As a token of gratitude, the Dragon Turtle shared with the party that a treasure chest was buried in the lake and offered them its contents. Inside the chest, the party found the highly sought-after Deck of Many Things.

This was the moment the party had been waiting for - an opportunity to draw a card from the Deck of Many Things and potentially have everything they needed. However, before they could make their move, they offered a card to the Dragon Turtle and the local scout leader, whom everyone hated, both of whom disappeared instantly after pulling a card. Undeterred, the party decided to take their own chances with the deck, resulting in one of their own, Gim, vanishing into thin air. Hoping that he got everything he ever wanted, the remaining members of the party continued their mission to acquire the horde, knowing that they couldn't take on the Red Dragon alone. Using two magical bags, they devised a plan to obliterate the dragon, which incredibly, worked to perfection.

With their newly acquired horde in tow, the remaining three members of the party successfully escorted the children and their riches back to town. Having accomplished their mission, they were now able to retire from adventuring and embark on a life of ease, as they had always dreamed.
